We finished work little bit early, drove an hour, than hiked to this lovely sport not quite far away, but nice to chill and meet with friends.
As far as sinking goes...put a flat rock or piece of bark under the pole to prevent sinking. I use my hiking poles for porch mode. You could use sticks

Confirming. There are more factors to consider, but taken in isolation, anchors far from the pole, only as far apart from each other as necessary to stabilize
