That's good news. It means we're making progress in our quest to increase awareness of hammock camping. :D
Glad to see the disease is spreading!!! I would love to see some numbers on percent of campers/hikers using hammocks and the trend over time.
I was in my local REI looking at the webbing and that was the same question I was asked. I hadn't even talked yet.
Yep, I went into EMS to pick up some webbing and rope. First question was "Hammock camping?" All 3 of the clerks also hammock camp. We compared notes and I gave them the URL to here.
The store manager for the new REI opening here Mar 1 said they realize that hammocks are very popular around here. Great news to hear they're prepared. :-)
I had the same experience when I was looking for rap rings....
I wasn't so much surprised that they're familiar with hammock camping, but I was surprised that they're familiar with the whoopie and MSH/toggle style of suspension. :)
