Coldest temps I have been in
Hung my HH Expedition Zip in the back yard last night. The temps got to the lowest I've hung in. 25° was the low. I had my AHE Lost River in digital camo under me and a Wally world mummy bag as a top quilt. I slept like a coma patient until 4am when I realized my UQ shifted from underneath me on one side despite my new UQ triangle thingies in place. I didn't use the HH tie outs in hopes of helping to keep the UQ in place. Any suggestions or experience welcome. But all in all I had a good night. I woke up refreshed and hit the local mountain bike trails for a good ride !
Cool temp vs. windy conditions
Greetings to all forum members!! I am lucky enough to live in FL. so cold temps are usually not a huge problem but we do have some cold nights. This weekend however was my first cold feet night in a hammock. The reason for this (lesson learned) was the wind. Believe it or not this was my first night by water (St. Johns river) and the first time wind has been a factor on a hang. I had my 3/4 UQ, which has always been more than enough but with the wind my feet would just not warm up. I doubled up on the socks and put in my pad in the cold breeze but still suffered a rather miserable night. Thanks to hammock forums i have plenty of tips and tricks to try. We can't foresee every situation we might find ourselves in but don't let one rough night ruin a great past time!! Again, lesson learned....
