Video: Foothills Trail A8-A4, The Overnight That Became One Long Day
This trip went through several itinerary changes from "Easter Weekend Thru Hike" to Solo overnight and finally one long day hike. The thru hike called for a ~30mile day on Saturday with a bail out of only 24miles or so. No one wanted to or rather could join me on this kind of trip this weekend, so I decided on an overnight along the one section I have not yet done (well, I do not remember doing the Oconee section, it's been a while).
I've been working on listening recently and I felt a really bad feeling in my gut at one point that dulled to a I need to get out of ASAP feeling. Upon my return the the car, some hikers needed my help (could have been a reason, the timing was right), but when I listened to the missed calls from my family on my phone, I found out that many of them had a bad feeling that came over them while I was in the woods. We all felt that our God was trying to keep me from danger. I came out safe and had a good time so everything worked out.
Somethings I did differently on this trip: I used Hydropel...I loved it, I traveled at the highest rate in the woods with a pack on ever, and I did more miles on the trail than ever in one day.

Inner self
It is wise to listen to your inner self.
6th sense, Inner self - whatever someone wants to call it - is usually a number of thoughts and observations that are recorded just under your normal thoughts. They come together as a nagging feeling that something is not quite right.

Awful pretty there, FireInMyBones. Thanks for the trip report!
Those stairs look intimidating, especially Heartbreak Ridge. I think my gym trips are going to add an hour or so on the stair machine over the next couple months...
The falls up there beat Florida's all hollow; spent the last few days at the tallest falls in the state, and they're only seventy-something feet. And they fall into a sinkhole, or there'd only be about twenty or thirty feet of falls.
Well, at least water won't be a problem on the trail. It looked like most of the crossings were on bridges. Are there fords to worry about on the trail? It seems like most of the trail is extremely well-maintained.
I'm really looking forward to July's trip up that way!

Good on ya Uncle Mike (transport)! The pace was on, big miles too. Stairs and bridges are cool, suspension bridges are the best. Very, very, very nice place! I’m tired now after watching that, so I think I might go have a little nap. lol Thanks the the fast paced trip report, FireInMyBones!

Plus one on Uncle Matt ... good uncle for sure. STEPS! YIKES ... I thought you were in China for a minute there. Every "trail" there is made of steps if there is an incline and some are marble or a slick stone of some kind. Never understood the logic on that one!
