Has anyone tried the two pole hammock stand that is in the 09/11 issue of Popular Mechanics. If so, was it stable for one person, two, three? See attached scan of the stand.

Has anyone tried the two pole hammock stand that is in the 09/11 issue of Popular Mechanics. If so, was it stable for one person, two, three? See attached scan of the stand.
Actually the stand has 3 poles and is similar to another that a HF member, WV, has already made. It is a Tensegrity Stand.

MacEntyre has also experimented with these stands. Be warned - the struts described in the article are not strong enough. They need to be much stouter. It helps if they're longer, too.
There is a variant of the Tensegrity Stand on this thread. It looks easier to build IMO. YMMV.
