I picked up 8 yards of this at Walmart off of the $1.50 rack. It's very heavy 8 yds. X 54" is about 5.5 lbs. With a little coaxing I was able to separate the layers.
Any ideas on an id

It looks like it was meant for upholstery use!
With the backing attached and the foam like stuff sandwiched in the middle it's way too heavy to be used for anything else!
What ideas did you have in mind when you bought it?
I don't see any ripstop there at all!
There's a grey woven fabric that's got a square detailing to the weave, a white section that's usually a very, very light open cell foam and a backing material that is usually heat bonded to the foam that's usually not much heavier than pantihose.
Useful for upholstering or making a slip cover for the easy chair!!
My In laws who operate an upholstery shop said it was constructed just like some upholstery fabric but with a micro ripstop face. Anyway I just peeled off the backing and I think I'll make a heavy duty tarp out of it. The fabric it self is super strong.
