You can also do a standing seam along the ridgeline and reinforce it with grosgrain. It's a alot easier to manage while sewing.

Never thought of that. I will try some flat seams on some skins and bags and see how I do. I bought almost 15 yards of nylon... So I have some extra to play with. Once I get some time I will try to get some pictures of my first attempt.
Be patient and don't get frustrated if you your new to the sewing thing.
A flat felled seam can seem a little daunting, but after doing my tarp it really wasn't that bad. I had a tougher time hemming those cat cuts than I did with the ridgeline. Good luck with whatever you do though.
