Successful first hang!

Thanks to a lot of help from a lot of you experts I finally took the chance and spent a great night of sleep in the great outdoors by the great Potomac river. Everything went without a hitch. It even rained and I did not notice (and did not get wet!!). My setup does need some fine tuning, I hope to get it debugged as I hang out more.

Vic, congrats on your hang, glad all went well for you and you enjoyed it so much. I have to agree with everyone else, that is a gorgeous hang site. Are you using an ENO hammock? Anyway, welcome aboard and happy hanging! :D

you probably noticed that hanging on a hill can provide a few challenges, like being careful that you've got your balance when you stand up, or laying stuff on the ground that can roll away... especially near the water:eek:
but hey, you wouldn't even consider putting a tent there.

Yes the spot was nice and it kind of made a point with my tenting friends. The hilly site was tricky but interesting. Getting good footing was essential to get out and also remembering which side to get off the hammock!

I have to improve my bottom insulation if I want to attend the MAHHA in Oct. The overnight temps then will be much lower then and I don't think I have the appropriate insulation. I only used two sleeping bags on this outing. one thin one used as a pad and the second one as usual.

I look forward to my second hang.
