Newbie from SW VA

Hey all. A friend of mine (don't know his forum tag) has been talking alot about trying hammock camping, then last week he said "I am getting one". So I couldn't be out done...I ordered one too.

After pulling out the sewing machine, been collecting dust for years, my first project was a tarp (I know, I know this is madness) which actually turned out great IMO for the first one. It worked great until I had the bright idea (after a few) to see how it would work as a hammock...so now I have also done my first repairs on a tarp.

Needless to say I am hooked, although I have yet to actually receive my hammock much less use it. Great forum!

Good luck with your new hammock. A word of caution since you sew.....stay away from the DIY forum.....there are too many projects and too little time.....it's madness I tell you!:eek:

You're off and running! (in all directions, apparently). Welcome, anyway, and keep going. I predict a bright future as a hanger. :)

It has been awhile since I trekked through the Sawtooths of Idaho and past Twin and Toxaway Lakes but I am looking forward to getting back on the trail. I need to replenish supplies and I am interested in getting off the ground and into the air with the hangers. It just looks like a better way to camp and sleep. I am in the process of LOOKING at all of the new gear and have almost come to my decision about which setup I will go with. I look for ward to hearing from all of the hangers out there. Copycat! I decided to hang to get away from you! All I have to say is that when we roll in to our campsites, I get first dibs on trees.

Ha! Ya know, I was thinking we will need to make sure we target camping areas with a multitude of trees. At least this way we won't be limited to tent pads in the National forests.
