Down Allergy
I wasn't sure where to post this, so I thought I post here. I have allergies to down products which is why I don't have a down sleeping bag, jacket, etc. I was wondering if anyone else is similar to me and yet have used a down underquilt with out your nose getting stuffy and all the next day? I was wondering because if I made a down underquilt I'm not actually touching the down, therefore, not really getting a reaction from it? I have a primaloft sleeping pad and thought about taking the primaloft out of that to make an underquilt and buy another sleeping pad down the road.

Might be easier just to pick up some synthetic insulation an make an underquilt than tear apart your pad.
I have had good service from Outdoor Wilderness Fabric (http://owfinc.com/fabrics.html)

You might also search for Insultex, some people also use it.

I'm allergic to down. I can't use a down quilt/uq either. The fabric says down proof, but enough gets through for it to cause me problems. I guess it depends on how allergic you are. The fabric breathes and some particles/dust come through.

Put me on the list.I am extremely allergic to animal anything. The only option for us is man made synthetics. It takes more fill,in my opinion,to get the same level of warmth for a given temp.

make an underquilt outa Climashield APEX. great stuff and really warm. I sometimes have problems with down but usually only down that has sat around a long time and collected dust mites.
