Looks good. Congrats Mac!
Can't wait for my WBBB IX UQ!!:D
Won't be long, Raw! I am running low on grosgrain, and won't get a resupply until Mon or Tues, but I expect to ship everything by Tuesday.
The first items that will be transferred to the team at Tree to Tree will include the Medium and Large IX UQs. That transfer should be done after the first week of June. The rest will follow quickly.

 Ditto's on the WBBB IX UQ!
I edited the OP again to list the choices for coverings on the Jerry Chairs.
Those 5x1 IX Jerry Chairs are functional design masterpieces. I was in awe, just a GREAT idea and superb execution.
Just ordered a large Jerry chair with 2 layers IX...:)
Thank you all very much!

So does anyone have any pics of these in action? What are the weights and approximate temp ratings?
IX UQs weigh about 7 oz.
Jerry Chairs are a bit more than twice that, depending on the coverings.

Would the WBBB uq be the choice for the WB Traveller?
The 7oz weight. Is that the single layer weight?
Thanks Mac for this creation.
never heard of it..what is it
Ewker... do your homework!
My IX UQs showed up today.
I'm gonna take 'em to the mountains this weekend.
BTW, excellent packaging: a custom-stitched tyvek envelope.
i want one LOL....if i only had money :(
I just had a very soft, very light package delivered to my desk. :D
I'm hoping to have some time this weekend to give it a try and figure out how to hang it properly. Our cold weather is long gone until at least October or later, but I'm glad I'll be ready for it when it gets here.

Hey Mac,
I know you probably have this info somewhere, but with the IX UQ's can you tell me what the rough temp ranges for them...?
Specifically for WBBB in my case...
The first layer could get you as low as 45... nesting the second layer with it could get you as low as 32.
I have hung in 8*F with four or five layers, using hte IX Hammock Sock as the outer layer.
Also, it depends on what you have on top. Too little on top will make you feel cold below.

Macaroni,
How do you recommend packing the IX UQs: stuff? roll? fold?
Any pics on one compressed?
In this thread about the new IX Top Quilts, there is a picture of a two layer top quilt packed, but not really compressed, to about a gallon. The 2 layer IX TQ has more fabric than any of the IX UQs, so it is a lot larger when packed.
Do you have a price list for these underquilts?
Please see the website for updated pricing info!
In a couple of weeks, this will all be on the Tree to Trail Gear web site!

SnowWhite sent me a PM to let me know that her IX UQ for the Warbonnet Blackbird is working well! She told me it would be ok to post it here.
She did have one tiny problem:Quote:

How does the nesting layers work? I haven't used an underquilt yet so this is probably a totaly newbie question. I understand how a differential cut works to avoid compressing the insulation. The upper layer lays flat against the hammock and the longer width of the lower layer creates the air pocket. But if you layed additional insulation above the top layer wouldn't it get compressed? If you hung it loose to compensate, wouldn't you be prone to air gaps? Thanks.
With IX, the edges of the UQ are configured to be tight against the hammock, while the bottom is loose.
It's made with large darts, to cup the edges and keep the belly full. It's so thin, there's plenty of room to nest additional layers. It's so light, it does not compress the layer below.

Where can I find the price and what degrees they can go down to?
Prices are five posts up from here, #30.
One layer of IX will get you to about 45*F, two will get you to freezing, unless you are a really cold sleeper.
I used four or five layers of IX under me at 8*F on Mt. Rogers last January.

Could you combine a layer or two of IX in combo with say, a summer UQ to get you to 4 season temps?
Hey all,
I'm in the market for a new UQ for my BB 1.1DBL. Haven't been around HF lately (thesis/job interviews) but I'm hearing good things about the IX setups. Is this simply a cheaper option to the down UQ's or is it a cut above? I'm looking at the Yeti and have the money for it but I want to make sure it's the right move of course...
cheers,
-jim
I just ordered an IX underquilt with an insert from MacEntyre.
I gotta sleep in my sleeping bag cause I toss & turn all night.
So UQ's & top quilts never fit the bill for me.
Can't wait to try them out.
Thanx Mac.
I've actually been curious, purely from a appearance-sense.
Does it affect the IX at all if it were dyed to be a color other than white? Obviously I'm more interested in the function than the appearance, if it affects any of the insulating properties at all, I wouldn't consider it, but if not, it'd be a nice option once I get mine :)
I have been unable to get IX to accept a dye. Attachment 11581After immersing the IX in the heated fabric dye solution, I could feel it's bouyant properties. The dye literally rolled off. Attachment 11582A small amount of dy adhered to some of the scrim corners and quilting thread.
dblhmmck not quite what you expected...Thanks for giving it all for the team
Tom
Does the inserts for the underquilts and jerry chairs have the same darted "cup" shape or are they flat and just conform to the shape of the outer layer?
