New fellow in michigan

Hello!

Earlier this summer i got an ENO double nest as a wedding party gift (super cool gift!) and learned that ppl backpack with them. Then learned about diy stuff on jeffs page which pointed here! Now im hooked.

I just finished my first trip backpacking in my dn a week ago, and thought i should finally start posting since ive gleaned so much info from this forum already :)

My current setup:
Diy tree huggers
Diy whoopies (7/64)
Diy Adjustable (short whoopie loop) Structural ridge line connected with opie style soft shackles to the locked brummel of the woopie slings. (yes i really enjoy splicing)

Diy bug net (thanks to the instructions and materials from slittle/diy gear supply)

Sadly, a leaky old rain fly from a garage sale tent that i had laying around, with way to short lash-it guy lines... Probably weighs a few pounds :)

Thanks for the welcome, everyone! Seems like there are lots of ppl from michigan. Must be all the trees :)

Definitely have the diy bug. I usually end up making anything im interested in. Im not sure if thats a product of limited resources, or just because i love creating things. So fun to have made it myself, and continually refine things...

I partly asked for the photos to be taken so I could see how much to trim off my bug net. Should make some good material for snake-skins if I can figure out how to change it to long/skinny instead of cut off corners...

And a howdie doodie to you too.... I think I bumped into you, that looks like the MRT, my buddy and I met you at the stream on the north side getting water.... If that was you cool to see you found your way here.... If not still cool that you found this great resource for hammock camping and backpacking....

We were totally impressed with your filter system. I tried looking for instructions here, but came up empty. Can you point me in the right direction?

Try this water filter video, there are lots of different designs out there.... I used a Wally World drybag, a 99.99% water filter from dunhams, some plumbing fittings, a little seam sealer, camel back valve I had laying around, and a few other misc parts.... leaks a little but who cares.... I hate pumping for a large group and this works just fine, not as fast as commercial units but who's timing me out there anyways...:lol::lol:

Think I had $15 into it with a two pack of filters...:D If you join the forums as a donating member it will open members only section where alot of discussion is had on non hammock items such as gravity filters...
