I recently bought a piece of gear from a HF member(name not really important ) we PM'd back and forth and was told the brand was from a reputable cottage vendor But after receiving the item It was in fact not from the vendor I was told it was from, but a DIY project .....Bottom line If you are selling something on here make sure it is what you told the person it was!

If something was misrepresented, and the seller won't take it back, please PM a moderator. We can't get your money back, but we can hopefully keep it from happening again.
I've had both good and bad experiences with the FS threads here. If you payed via paypal, you could open up a dispute on the payment that way to get it resolved. It's worked for me in the past.
99.9% of the folks who sell on the For Sale thread do the right thing. Mr. Tattoo I hope you get your money back.
I haven't had much issues to be honest. Very lucky in that respect. I did have an item arrive more worn than I anticipated but this was in no way a misrepresentation by the seller. I have also had an item sent to me that was listed as one item and ended up being another (doubt the seller knew but it ended well since they were both of the same value and items i wanted).
My biggest issues have always been shipping and duties!!

I have been in contact with the seller and because of the medical/cash issues of the seller I am going to take the hit and not pursue a return of my $$ my way of putting a little $ in the Karma bank.

i have had only good experiences with the fs thread. Now my PIF's that a different story, but its about the giving not the receiving. hope it all gets worked out.
I have never, ever, ever had a problem with a member in the FS forum. Every single piece of my top line got to hanging gear, hammock, TQ, UQ, & tarp, have come from buying in the For Sale section.
I've never had an issue that wasn't resolved. As with all dealings between two people, there's always the possibility of miscommunication, contention of facts or some other confusion. I've found my dealings with any fellow HF members to always end with some agreeable resolution. Hopefully, the same will happen with you.

Unfortunately not naming names leave it open to being a guessing game with who you had the transaction with.
Years ago i had a transaction go sour with a misrepresented item (not on hammock forums) and after months of back and forth and a LOT of reasons why from the seller as to why money not coming forward. I finally never got my $ back. They were banned. I never pursued legal action but i chalked it up to lesson learned.
If you feel this transaction is resolved then good.
If the Moderators feel the transaction is resolved, then i will have pause for thought the next time i post "i'll take it"

This purchase has in NO way discouraged me from buying from the FOR SALE threads on here . This is a great site ! The Mods truly do an amazing job and make this an enjoyable place to hang out ...As I stated I am not perusing the seller for a refund he obviously needs the $ He knows how I feel about this and I am pretty sure this will not happen again from the seller. I am in no way trying to vilify this person which is why I will not post his name in this thread ..Although his name has been given to the proper people on HF
A little search, and I could take an educated guess as to who, but if you were lied to about the product, it would make me suspect the reason behind it, being financial or not, could also be a lie. Makes me not want to purchase from this person, and having issues to deal with. Just my .02
As Mr.Tattoo stated, he did PM the mods with details. We're looking into it. This seller won't be an issue again.
That is too funny, but my thinking exactly. If you misrepresent on a public forum (or lie), then it's pretty much there for anyone to see for perpetuity. Once you've lost your reputation, it's hard to get it back again.Quote:

I believe this why the Mods enforce the "no Gift" rule . The 'Purchase' option on Paypal offers some degree of protection for the buyer that the 'Gift' option does not.
My transactions have been good on this forum and others. One minor problem with a zipper on a piece of gear but after a lil' Google-Fu I was able to fix it easily. I asked the seller and he said he'd never had any problems so I chose to give benefit of the doubt. I have bought since and will again, if my wife and wallet allow !

I too did the search thing and found the For Sale thread in question. Perhaps I'm reading it wrong, but in the thread, he doesn't say its from HG, he says it the same size as one. Although if he told the OP that it was a HG UQ in a private message, the mods can easily find that out and take care of the user in question. Not a good experience in any case, although I too am glad that the mods enforce the "No Gift" PP option.

lilricky your reading is just fine ..It was told to me in a PM .....And to anyone that reads this please don't let this discourage you from purchasing from other members this is just a small ripple in a rather large glassy pond. There is a good chance that he would have refunded my $ but it was my choice not to pursue a refund. My whole point to this thread was to make people think before they try and misrepresent an Item they are selling. I sell gear on here and when I do I make sure they know exactly what they are getting.
You have an amazing attitude towards this. This is the reason why I feel comfortable buying and selling gear here. I too have had nothing but good experiences both as a seller and buyer.Quote:

i been buying and selling for years here and i can say it's rare to have this happen .. i'm sure it happens more than we as reg members know but from what i know of ,it's a rare thing.
Knowing the mods like i do... i don't think we will have any problems for the said seller of the item
they are pretty quick to fix problems ... that why we love them so much
... makes my heart warm :rolleyes: :D

No its a camo hammock gear pheonix, but no draft collars. It has climashield in top 2 baffles to act as draft collars. I can do 130 or a partial trade on other gear you might want to get rid of. 20oz so its about a 10 degree quilt

I haven't heard of Adam ever using Climashield. That sounds like a red flag in itself.
By that description, it sounds like a HG custom job, to me. And I would have thought the same as you.
I thought the same and also I have never seen a camo HG UQ and I replied to the PM above saying I didn't know HG offered a camo shell and he replied it was custom.I also know HG will make custom quilts so I figured they requested Climashield...
My thoughts as well. In the thread there was no mention that it was an HG Phoenix, just that the size and fit were the same. The PM doesn't jive with the thread and seems to indicate it is an HGP, but at the same time makes me wonder if he meant to say it was a Phoenix clone but had a brainfart and didn't communicate that correctly. "Custom" can mean both special-order or DIY, so again kinda iffy. I also find it tough to believe that a donating member with a solid amount of community participation would try to pass off a DIY job as an HG job, something that would be immediately apparent as soon as the purchaser failed to find any HG tags on it.Quote:

CatSplat he has tried to sell it before and I didnt see that post till today. The post I bought it from had the following description.
3/4 Under Quilt specs:
Channeled Suspension: 40" wide x 47" long, (5)7.5" Down channels with 1.5 oz of 800fp down + (2)3" channels with 2.5oz climasheild(these are the side channels, kind of a draft tube you could say). Baffles are no-seeum. 1/8" shock cord with cordlocks included. Differential cut from side to side. Weighs in at 20oz. With 4" of loft.
no mention of it being a clone.. maybe it was a brain fart on his part and he has appoligized for it . And I simply chose not to pursue a refund because I have been through hard times and they aren't fun.
I won a camo HG Phoenix last year at the Grayson Highlands Fall Festival, so there is at least one.

I beg to differ, I have an Incubator, a Phoenix and a Burrow, all in camo. But HG does do request, so as for the Climashield, its possible. I'll see if I have a pic on here o one of my quilts from HGQuote:
