Pretty good effort to hike 50km under those circumstances. Crocs are a pretty good fallback, sounds like you might have been better carrying them than your other shoes!Quote:

I've had Scarpa boots I could walk 40km a day in that I wore out - replacement pair of the same model give me pain after 20km. I find the only answer is to walk my feet off in training so that I just know that the footwear I have (and my feet) will stand up on the hike. If they don't then I replace and repeat the wear-in and training until I'm happy. I'm lucky that local tracks have the full mix of steep, rugged, flat and hard so this can all be done from my front gate.
