Now that I've agreed to this trip....what's the weather like that time of year? I'm guessing cool in the evenings and a likelihood of rain. Also, are the mosquitoes out in April?
SBreckenridge - we'd love to have ya! Rain is a definite possibility.
Well, if it's anything like Kentucky, and I will guess it is, you can count on chilly mornings and likely rain, but no mosquitoes yet, thank goodness. :D
There is a great place to hang on the Wolf Creek Trail. It is a 16 mile trail along the Brookville Reservoir in Franklin County IN. The trail is not over used at all and is nice and rolling along the 23 mile lake. April would be a great time, it is a hour and a half south east of Indy.

Yes to all!!!! Rain, Snow, Tons of Mosquitos, Hail, The jackalopes will be in heat , so they'll be on the rampage too. The best part (or worse, however you look at it) is the wet, soggy ground. Waders are a must. Also, be prepared for five or six river crossings. Not streams, RIVERS. I bring a packacraft that I can inflate and ride in. After seeing that Girl Scout troop just float away, I know I can't be too careful. Safety first!
I'll also be bringing a wreath for all my fallen friends that I've lost on this particular trail. It's going to be great! I can't wait!:scared:

If you want a serious reply: No skeeters, cold weather at night.;)
I'm gonna try to make it. So what's the agenda on these hangs? Do you guys meet up, hike in, hang out, then hike to a new spot the next day and so on? Or do you come back to base camp so to speak? I love gettin out into the woods for some slow casual hikes just not sure what the group usually does.
I love to attend if my schedule cooperates! I've only backpacked once this past year... I'm sure I would learn a lot.
