JRB make awesome stuff.
Southpaw, I noticed you wanted to try someone's bridge. Clearly you were impressed. Any aspect of it that brought you over to the bridge side? I'm thinking of ordering one sight unseen.
When I laid in it, I felt like I could lay in the same position I normally sleep in. Usually I sleep without a pillow and I lay on my side with my arm under my head, and that was a piece of cake.
The couple of things about it that I didn't like was, that when I was laying on my back it seemed to have a little shoulder squeeze and it encouraged me to put my arms behind my head, like in this picture, http://www.jacksrbetter.com/images/D...flat-weblg.jpg
That could just be to broad shoulders. It wasn't anything I couldn't get used to obviously.
The second thing I noticed was that a Thermarest style mummy pad, it seemed to make the Hammock less stable. I.E. It felt like I was gonna flip if I wasn't careful when I started rolling around. I don't really use a pad anyway, but it was an observation.
I actually purchased a Clark NX-250 off a guy on here, and two days later, I got to meet up with Ewker and Hamhocker to try it out. I think I actually said "wow the Clark has big shoes to fill now". I have tried out several Hammocks over the last few months, and to me, the bridge is night and day different.
When I first considered hammock camping, I remembered back to when I was in my twenties I had a girlfriend who had a rope hammock in her back yard. I remembered laying in that thing and drinking sweet tea and loving it. So that's the sort of comfort I was looking for, and I just couldn't find it in a gathered/cinched end hammock. They are all great, I loved the Warbonnet and the Clark. The Clark is amazingly warm and very wide, but heavy and poles got on my nerves a little. The Warbonnet is equally comfortable, and packs down way smaller, but not as warm. I can't really say anything bad about any of them.
I hope that helps you make your choice. If you like to lay really flat and not be diagonal the bridge is where it's at.
hey it was her sewing that failed :scared:
I will get to use it at Neo's hang next weekend. She has to leave Sat so it will stay there so I can try it out :).
If it lays really well I may look into getting one. I always get calf pressure in the blackbird although the 1.0 DL doesn't have it as bad as the 1.7DL.
