Fabric weight in U.S.
I want to make myself a Hammock sock and am not sure about the necessary weight of the fabric.
In the various websites weights are between 1.1 and 1.90z.
Per square-yard or maybe ....square-inch?
I can get this:
http://www.shelby.fi/catalog/product...roducts_id=135
but want to translate the weights.
(Strange, but true: I have to order this germany-made product in Finnland, because its not available in its country of origin)
Who can enlighten me, please.

The U.S. weights are 'per square yard'.

Those numbers are per square yard...
Metric weight is grams per square meter as you know...
A square meter is roughly 1.17 square yards and a gram is roughly 0.035 oz....
so 75g/m^2 is about 2.24 oz (per square yard)

Thanks. I guessed the same, but it's nice to be certain.

I guess I should also mention that nominal weights aren't always "real" weights...
:)
Marketing gets in there too....
