Dutch clips are pretty sweet.
Actually you are right and wrong! Dutch has come up with a couple different types of biners, the ridgeline biners and the suspension biners. You are correct the ridgeline biners either Ti or aluminum cannot be used for hammock suspensions.
The suspension biners are sold at JRB- http://www.jacksrbetter.com/shop/dutch-biners/ FWIW I have had a set for a few years now and they are awesome, have a 400# weight rating and definitely fit the UL philosophy.
Titanium Dutch clip - hands down!
Dutch clip fan myself (though I did start with biners) and soon to be a Ti Dutch clip owner.
I've purchased numerous pairs of aluminum Dutch clips, so that I have a set for each hammock, and some of which I've given to others to help them get setup, and they have worked flawlessly. I think they're my favorite piece of Dutchware, although the tarp flyz and Dutch hooks are pretty sweet too. Not to mention the ridgeline biners, etc., etc.
These Dutchware threads always cost me money, I have successfully resisted Dutch clips.....until now! There's a set winging its way to me in the UK for the seriously low shipping cost of $3. Thanks Dutch.
