man, if only I lived somewhere where it snows... We're slated to reach upper 30's/low 40's... Celsius today. (er... that's about 100+ F) But the smoke from the bushfires north of here is taking the heat off the sun.
don't think I'll sleep out tonight- my allergies are struggling enough as it is!

I sure wish I lived in Australia....near the beach......with a couple of trees about 15 feet apart............
Maybe we need a record high temp. poll
went to the beach today... no trees, unfortunately. Very spontaneously.
High temps? It's now 10 pm and still 30C (86F) and not going to break till at least 24 hours from now. I napped outside a little while ago, in the sun... it was hot and I got burnt.
Someone talk about snow, now. Cool me down a bit.

My lowest recorded temp in a hammock is -1*F inside a detached garage (colder outside but no wind at all in the garage). This was a test to prepare for a winter campout. I was inside a 25* EMS poly fill bag with a fleece bag inside of it, one 3/8'' CCF pad in a homemade pad extender with CCF wings and a Stephenson's Warmlite down filled air mattress, wearing fleece pants, fleece top, balaclava, wool socks, light polypro gloves. Had the hammock strung too tight in the hammock stand so I had shoulder pinch that made sleeping difficult, but I was warm enough.
Coldest outdoors was 10*F, basically the same equipment and clothes. Very (almost too) warm, had the sag set properly and slept through with only a pee break at 2am (which was not pleasant at all). Wind blowing about 10MPH all night coming off a lake. My nose was cold in the morning, which taught me to breathe through the balaclava!
I've only been down into the low 30's with mine. It just hasn't been much colder than that here in Texas when I could get out.
I have a JRB nest as a top quilt, a homemade bottom quilt (similar to JRB ORM) that I call the Gray Ghost and a JRB weathershield if I need it. I typically sleep in polypro longjohns, socks and a hat. I can add fleece bottoms and a top if needed.
For temps in the 20's and lower, I would put the nest on the bottom with the gray ghost and use my 20 degree sleeping bag as a quilt.
