Hello from the woods of Maine. "Vacationland"
Hello All. I wanted to introduce myself and make myself available to you all for questions. My name is Dan Hall from Byer of Maine. I'm new to the company and new to hammocks. Here in Maine Hammock Camping has not taken off. Everyone I know thinks I'm crazy for even mentioning it. So I look forward to being a pioneer to the idea up here. I promise not to try and sell you anything while I'm using this site. I'm only hear to learn more about the business and the opinions of the people that matter most. The people that actually use these products, YOU.
I'm a young man with a young family just trying to make a living. I worked for Old Town Canoe/Johnson Outdoors for several years before this. Then I took another sales job in advertising and hated it. So when I had an opportunity to sell and represent products again that I know people love and enjoy I was the happiest man alive again. It's so refreshing to be able to offer products that you know people actually want.
Let me know if I can help you in any way.
Thank you
Dan

Welcome Danny to hammock forums. Here you will learn everything that we here do with hammocks. Everything from creation to how to use them, to any modifications that we make. I am sure that you will be surprised at how passionate we are about this style of camping.
With all that said. You could also attend a group hang in your area that would showcase most likely every style of hammock and tarp there. I don't know if there is any local hangs in your area but I know there is one down in Massachusetts in June. I thinks it is a little under 6 hours from you. If you are tactful you might even be able to have your employers pay you for the research and development and make it a business expense.

Welcome from Florida! I spend some time in Maine every year. My last trip was in February.
