Yep, it will work great. The same material that many people here use to DIY their first hammock in fact. :cool:
This is what I made mine out of and I just bought some more yesterday for a longer one.
Hancock ripstop is heavy stuff, probably 1.9 oz per sq yd. But it's definitely a good deal!

Hang it low until you have faith in it. That gives gravity less time to influence the impact.
