I am in Kansas city, I know that place. It's ok, but there is a even better place out in Lee's summit. Great area and there are great views. At nite owl sounds. I did a survival camping thing with scouts and plus a few other things.
I just found out I'm going to have to work until 2:30 on Friday. That puts me in there between 7 & 8 pm. So, save a couple of trees for me and a spot by the campfire.
Dude!!
We'll have a spot reserved and a comfy spot waiting. Sorry you're getting the late start, but glad you can make it out this way!
picked up a pair of non-locking 'biners rated for 24 & 27kn and 13' of HD 1.5" poly seatbelt webbing this afternoon - will be making a pair of tree straps tomorrow after work.
Looking like it will be around 6 on friday before I get there. Save me a spot as well :)
Well crapadoodle folks, it's 14 degrees out there right now coming up on noon Thursday. Although it's supposed to get warmer, that's only by 5-10 degrees, and it's currently 7 mph winds but it's really been blowing and predicitons are for more of the same. Just too cold for my limited equipment. We've had a pretty good string of upper 30's nights so far this winter, even a couple of lower 50's but this is just about 20 degrees cooler for the daily high then I can handle. With a 20 mph wind, the campfire isn't going to be a good deal either. Lots of spark holes on one side, no warmth on the other.
So I'm out. IF you go, and I know some of you are excited about going, just remember to layer and keep out of the breeze. You're actually going to be more in the surviving mode then the camping out mode and one of those is fun, one of those is serious work. I know Shug is always out there in the negatives but that man is experienced. Were not talking uncomfortable like you would be at 35 degrees. We're talking death.
So be safe. If the weather takes about a 15 degree turn, I'll see you there.
