I'm planning a trip with a few friends down to the KT over the first weekend of December. Our route should start at Oxley Memorial Trail head and travel north around the loops an back. I know there are two lakes on the on the eastern side of the route, but I was hoping someone who had been down there recently could point me in the direction of other water locations, and maybe a good camping area or two. So far we will have two hangers and two ground pounders.
Any advice would be appreciated.
I did the Northern loop from Oxley in October and the lakes themselves are the only completely reliable sources of water. We camped at a terrific site on the shore of Spurgeon Hollow Lake...you can't miss it on the KT.
I'm leaving for the kt at the same time you are. There are many creeks on the north section, and with all the rain, shield not be an issue.
Good to hear. Maybe we will see you out there, or maybe we wont.....my group is acting really chaotic and starting to discuss other locations.
