Lets not get carried away here, 3 bean chili has the potential to burn the hammock and all those around it to the ground :-)

I haven't yet begun the process but i have ruled out anything combustible right away.
I'm leaning towards something useable with a flexible solar panel mountable on the tarp (light weight), perhaps some kind of low output heated blanket with a heat reflective backing not going to be hot just warm enough to take the edge off or preheat your quilt etc etc
just a first thought of course. Open to suggestions! :D
Well ya going to need a big battery for that.

Not necessarily, there's been alot of advancement in the area of batteries lately, may be able to come up with something useful without weighing a metric tonne ;)
I'll keep you informed!

A time honored method, put rocks in a campfire till they get real hot, move the rocks under your hammock, or better yet, an enclosed tarp configuration. The rock will give off heat for many hours. It works.

Heat tape! Yes that is a great starting point, light weight and would probably be able to design something to be used like a sleeping pad, space blanket type backing....we may be onto something here :-)
