Welcome to the forum from a fellow Eagle. My suggestion if you want your wife to do this with you is to make her tarp with doors. You don't get the privacy for changing with most tarp set-ups that she might want. Just an idea.

Welcome from yet another Eagle ('95). You will love hammock camping. Seems like you have done quite a bit of backpacking. Did you ever make it out to Philmont?
Welcome to the trees! A DIY set-up will hook you for life! :D
Hope you get set-up, and we need PICS or it never happened! ;)
I am in the middle of the state, almost to Alabama, but we do have a little bit of what makes the smokies so pretty
I took these at a place just off the Natchez Trace last Sunday, please forgive some of the blur, they were taken with my iPhone:

This one was taken from a duck blind on Reelfoot Lake, out in West TN.

This is from Cheek's Bluff Bend, just around the corner from my house. The trail splits at one point to a smaller loop, and you can go through this cave to come out with a great view of the Duck River:

And this is Chickasaw Trace, about 15 minutes from my house.

Sorry for the photo overload :D
She has made that abundantly clear haha, but thank you. I think I am going to try and make myself go slow, do some car camping so we can have a tent too for privacy. I think I have won her over to the idea of the hammock, she likes the idea of being away from the creepy crawlies :scared:
I never did, but I have given some thought to volunteering my services as an EMT to maybe get to tag along on a trip. I'm nowhere near ready for that, but the thought has crossed my mind. I don't even know if that is something they'd be interested in or allow.
Beautiful pics!
Love that you have a Beagle too.
Thanks SF, I just wish that they allowed camping near those falls. Too many places around here are for day use only. I've called the state and asked, but no one will give permission to camp or explain why it is the way it is. Oh well!
That's Shiloh, our beagle. She loves being out and about but just can't be trusted off the leash. Her nose gets her into trouble :D
