Has anyone ever seen or done this:

anyone have any additional lightweight tips or tricks for staying cool in a hammock when it is hot and humid out and camping up high on a ridge for breeze is not an option?
I have one of those and those blades are sharp! Get yourself a corneal abrasion for sure sitting up to egress the hammy!
I have used the soft bladed fans with good result. Once you get it on a good spot on the hammock ridge line the wee breeze helps for sure. http://www.o2-cool.com/funfans_overview.php

I won a box with several avon sports fans in it, and my son and I used them on our last hang. Very nice and they move quite a bit of air. We tied up the lanyard on the ridgeline and the added another tie to the fan butt to keep it at the angle we needed. They use 2 AA batteries and we haven't drained them yet. Very nice to have on hot nights. The blades are also not sharp and collapse back onto itself, so they're easy to pack.
My mom and I also took two to Cedar Point with us last week along with a squirt bottle. Thank God, as they came in super handy!! It was 103 that day and we really had no interest in Cedar Point, but just wanted my son and his friend to go and have a good time.

I use an OFF Clip-on fan. I pulled the repellent out of it and rigged it so that it would turn on without the repellant. Now it makes a nice, quiet, little fan. It has an impellar style fan that is encased, so there are no "blades" to worry about. And, it has a belt clip that clips right on the your hammock RL without any modification. It works well for me. YMMV.

I got one of these at the WW for 1.69. It seems to do a good job, but I just got it, so I can't report about battery life yet. Foam blades keep from hurting my bugnet (or my head) :)

On the older blue ones... There is a slit in the cover with a little paddle under the opening... If you just press your finger in there hard enough you can depress it far enough to get the switch to come on... I have also used a zipper "handle" to push it in before i knew my finger fit...
I picked up a little "neck fan" from Wal-Mart for $5! It runs off two AA batteries & works great!

Nu, I picked up the same thing (little black rectangle) at the same time I got the two 02 fans. It seemed they were just more efficient, however, the Hennessy has a built in storage thingy on the ridgeline that would hold it perfectly where I wanted it so I could have a nice steady quiet downdraft... :)
I have 2 of these and they only run about 5 hrs each with new batteries,,has to be a better longer running fan for a muliti day trip so you don't have to pack a bunch of batteries.Quote:
