Thanks Angrysparrow.
Whoopie Slings completed! I just finished Dancer's pair and the adjustability on them is 67". Yeah, baby! Mine will probably be about the same as well. I'm definitely cutting my tree straps down to 4'. :D
Whoopie Sling set #2 completed! Also the same 67" adjustability. I love these things! :boggle::wuv::boggle:
Once again, many thanks to SloBro and Grizz for the tutorials and videos. Thanx a million, guys!
I made 2 sets last night while watching Austin Powers.
Started with 75' of 1/8" Amsteel. Cut into 4 12' sections for the slings and used the rest to make 6' slings with non adjustable eyes at either end.
I used a wire coat hanger with the cut end rounded off.
I remember seeing a tutorial on gathering the end of your hammock and tying it off instead of using the channel. I cant for the life of me find it now. Does anyone know where I could find it?
There's a good explanation of that in an old thread about adding a structural ridgeline.
Thanks for that sparrow. I had "whipping" and tying off confused!! The larks head is what I was after.
Thanks to HF, my wife thinks I'm smart.
On the hike today she started to wilt. It was her first time hiking with me in years. I found two trees and within a minute she was resting comfortably. She asked me how I know all this stuff and of course I said HF.
My WBBB is in the mail. So, I put AirCore Pro lines and whoopie slings on my Grand Trunk Travel Hammock. The 60" adjustability on each line was sufficient and the constriction was solid.
Thanks, and PLEASE keep the good ideas coming.
Not sure how long you've been married ... but you do know that a husband's "atta boy's" are usually only good for 15 mins. ... a day if your lucky!
But hey ... that's great! I've yet to pull the "resting in a hammock" thingy ... right now the blonde just gives me the hairy eyeball when I'm tinkering in the garage or back yard with my gear!
That harry eyeball thing must be genetic to woman. I get the same thing. Mine says to me, "this is the third set-up youve messed with on these things."
