My brother asked me to come up and help him cook for a youth group camping in Lexington KY.
He tells me the closest trees will be 100 yds. apart so I'm taking my hammock and a tent, prepared to go to ground.
Wish me luck...o-o-h my aching back!:(

You could always whip up a turtllady bamboo stand to take along.
Good luck
Good time to make a hammock stand......Good luck and remember you are doing it for the kids :)
I see a one tree hang in your future.
Never bring a RV to do a minivans job.

Not to sure what it would do to your door seals or hammock suspension but I love the whole RV vs minivan tagline at the start of the video!
^ nice post.....
hahaha!
"and THAT's how you turn a mini-van into an RV."
He is lucky not to be messing up his paint job with the overhead straps. Nice place for continuous loops, nacabiners, and a whoopie, tho.
If you find the right kind of tree, one is enough. :)

Set up between your car and a tree. I've done it a few times at this type of event (helpful if you can get your car close enough.
You're going with kids? What else are they for? Have a bunch hold one end and another bunch in the other and, Viola! Happy hammocking! If you can her them to hold still all night so you can sleep and write a book, I'll buy it! ;-)
PAX,
lost
I went to ground one night camped on an island with no trees. Sure did feel good to hang the next night.
MAYDAY, MAYDAY, MAYDAY!!!! (You won’t see me use more than one ! very often, but in this case, I can’t ! enough.)
Do NOT go to ground, I repeat, do not go to ground!
You’re taking your hammock, that’s good, BUT leave your tent at home! Going to ground would be a very, very bad idea! Once you’ve been up you can never go back down! I find the idea of sleeping on the ground VERY disturbing and you should too! Take note of the previous posts and use one tree and your car (or someone else's with a roof rack), or mbiraman’s three big long and rope idea. I’ve never tried it or seen it done, but you could use one thickish straightish post or log, stand it on one end in a small shallow hole (so it don’t go anywhere), maybe stabilize it a bit with rope and tent pegs. Then run your ridge line over the top of the post or log and down and under one of the tyres on your car. Take a chain saw with you, so you can trim it to just the right height.
You MUST make it work and report back here, with photos, on what you did!
One more ! for good measure, no better make that two!! ;)
