ADKs in NY: Bog River/Low's Lake

My girlfriend and I just spent a wet but very enjoyable five days in the Adirondacks, canoe camping along the Bog River and Low's Lake.

Night-time temps stayed in the high 40's/low 50's, which is quite nice for this time of the year here.

It was a beautiful place, made more beautiful by the fall colors. We're already planning our next fall trip there!

Wow what great pics. I have yet to make it to the Adirondacks but with that scenery, I'll have to plan a trip in the future. Even though a little wet, it seems like you guys had a great time.

I encourage you to explore the Adirondacks. A lot of the prettiest areas are easily accesible by a major road from the south (NY87 - the Adirondack Northway) and then a short drive west from it.

I live right on the NY/VT border at the southern end of L.Champlain, and the Bog River/Low's Lake area was about a two-hour drive from my house.

Low's is one of my 3 favorite trips (the other two being Lila and the St Regis area). I grew up spending summer scout camp there at Sabattis. i did a trip up that way two septembers ago, but the colors weren't as nice. did the St Regis last year. GREAT pics. thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing! I did my first hanging trip in the Long Pond area of St. Regis two weekends ago.

Canoe camping is so great because you can bring all sorts of stuff you would never dream of lugging on your back. An water is rarley an issue!

Great trip, you nailed the timing of the foliage right on the head. Thanks for posting. I went twice to Lowes Lake this year.

Perfect. Those foliage pictures were great. Arkansas doesn't get quite that vibrant. Oh, and NICE boat too.

PS: I made a nice skydive at Orange, MA, last October right at Peak Foliage time. From 13,500 ft it was like jumping into a painting! I could see the edge of the color line as it moved from Vermont down into Mass. I'll never forget that one!

Is that Bell a NorthWind? I have a MorningStar (in Kevlar) and a Bucktail (in fiberglass). I take them both to the adks regularly.
