Ordered some 1.1 ripstop from DIYgearsupply to make myself an UL hammock. I guess it is time to dig out my spare amsteel and make a new set of whoopies while I wait :D hopefully my new setup will be <10oz.

Good luck, and remember, pics through the process. <10 oz is a wonderful goal.
Keep us posted!! Might want to try some smaller diameter line for your suspension like dynaglide to help shave weight.
I have some dynaglide UCR's I picked up from caveman that I would like to give another shot!
I saw somewhere about rubbing the prusik on the rope to wear down the coating and get a better grip, so I will try that a bit. I am just worried that if I do experience the same kind of slippage and sudden stoppage in the 1.1 that I will hear a very unpleasant ripping sound and be re-introduced to the ground.
It's the bury that needs to be used a bit to remove some of the slippery coating. The prussik knot just needs to be wrapped and seated correctly(dressed) for it to "bite" and hold.
Don't do too much damage to either cord rubbing or scraping. Just a little use should start to work out the slickness.
Well last time I used it both sides slipped, so hopefully that wore off the coating in the bury
Also, the project continued in another thread, https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ad.php?t=79631, where I will finish and post more pics.
