Hello from Mobile, AL
I'm a recent college grad looking to get back into outdoor activities, primarily camping. I used to be in the BSA my entire life, so I'm well familiar with camping already. I was looking to buy a new tent, but I came across hammocking and fell in love. I can't tell you guys how long I've looked for hammocks of this quality and structure when I was younger. I guess I just wasn't looking in the right places. I'm looking to get my first hammock soon, though I still can't quite decide. I would like something casual to hang out in the park with but then also to be able to take backpacking and camping with. for this it seems like a more modular setup like the ENO or Kammok would suit me, but I'm still looking for input

Welcome from south Florida but I was raised a stone's throw from you in Pensacola. Happy graduation by the way!
There are quite a few members from the LA area (Lower Alabama) and the Florida panhandle. I would suggest that you look in the "outings & trip planning" forum for a group event near you where you can see and try different hammocks. Trust me, we will all talk your ears off about our hammocks!

I can’t comment on an ENO or Kammok, because I’ve never seen one. I have a Skeeter Beater (should have ordered the Pro, and still might) and a Hennessy Expedition (it was a gift) that I keep as loaners because I feel that I’m about a foot too tall to lay comfortably in them. It would help others offer some suggestions if we knew if you are 4’ 2 or 7’ 9. Like MAD777 said, try to go to a hang out so that you can see what others have bought or made. There are two coming up soon.

Welcome from South Louisiana, saw my first Jimmy Buffet concert in Mobile, Fins!
I have an ENO SN & DN both are great lounging hammocks for me. I love the fabric and hate their stock suspension so plan on changing that out. My preferred backpacking Hammock is a BIAS Weight Weenie DL with bug net and Wilderness Logics Tadpole Tarp. You can certainly go with the ENO many people do on this forum. The deeper you dig the more options you will discover. I would highly recommend reading The Ultimate Hang first. It will answer many questions you did not know you had!
Best of luck!

Hi and Welcome! I live in San Antonio, Tx. but grew up in Mobile. Plenty of awesome places to camp there. I sure miss it. Sounds Ike you have a plan for your first hammock. Both the ENO or Kammock could suit you well. I would definitely look into getting a bug net. The skeeters there can be awful.
