I was considering a weekend trip to Mt Mitchell and was wondering if anyone could recommend a specific site number that was best for hammocks. There are only a handful of camping sites and I have never walked them to see. Have any of you been there?

You may have to hike out one of the trails as I think the campsites require tents on a tent pad area
I wish I could help but I don't have any info on the sites.
The sites are located just off the parking lot. From there you hike to your site number with the farthest one being a short hike. I have been there on my motorcycle however each time never looked at the sites to see what is the best location. You have to reserve the site in advance so I guess if no one knows Ill have to check it out again in person next time. :shades:
My son has done this hike and he parked here. He keeps asking me when I am going to do it. Maybe this will help.
