WL Snipe Hammock on the way!

OK.....I got weak this morning after sleeping out last night in my DIY GreenBean hammock....came in....got coffeed up....looked at the WL Snipe single layer hammock with those side drawstrings....free shipping....NC made right in USA......nice long length. Have not ordered a new hammock in a while. Boom..........got the Snipe on the way.
I am a wee bit excited to give it a go.........

I nearly ordered one to day, but decided not to because of the “deep lay” in the hammock. It looks as if you get your view restricted by the fabric on the sides. Hope you will do a video review of it when you get it Shug.

Looks like a good choice. I don't even buy hammocks, and I was tempted by that one. Wonder if you can replace 2' of the side draw cord with bungee to make sitting in the hammock more comfortable? Or is the tension adjustable? Looking forward to your review. :)

Yeah....hope to love it. With tall sides...I just kinda hang an arm over and draw it down. My DIY GreenBean hammock always has one high side.

If'n it's like the Lite Owl it's adjustable.

Nope - no adverse reports of this hammock, just experience with high-sided hammocks being hard to sit in because the fabric edge is pretty tight under your knees. I think you're going to like it.

Shug,

I picked one up on their Black Friday sale and have slept in it one night. It is the longest hammock I have and it is super comfortable. I think you will like it. The high walls do block some of the views but you don't have to tension them until you are ready to turn in. Because if it's length and lay I could sleep on my stomach! Never could do that except in a bridge. Most of my UQs seemed to fit it well except for the Peapod. Because of the high wall I didn't think it would work well.

The foot box was nice in that it kept my feet frOm popping out as they tend to do with some of my other netless hammocks. The head box nicely kept the excess fabric off my face. I think this Is my new favorite netless!

Cool Deal Shug! I can almost see the video now.... Carl Childers going on a Snipe hunt and he finds one hung in a tree on whoopies!

Hope you enjoy that snipe and all it has to offer. The folks at WL make some nice gear. Like a few other HF members, since WL is local I go by their shop and bug them every so often! Thats bad on the wallet......

Shug - If it's anywhere near as comfortable as the Light Owl, you will have a new favorite hammock.

WV - The headbox/footbox is adjustable, and the hammock should "sit" just fine with the boxes "loosened" all the way. My Light Owl "sits" like a dream, especially with that Gargoyle footrest.

Congrats! New gear is a beautiful thing. Man, have been eyeing up that Snipe, seems as though everyone who has a WL hammock really likes them. Would really like a lightweight single for daytripping, can't wait to hear how you like it.

I received my snipe yesterday. Couldn't pass up Marty's sale. I absolutely love it.
The single layer 1.5 feels wonderful. Just the right amount of stretch for my 185#

Tip: Since the snipe has shock cord on one side for your feet and opposite side for the head if one wants to lay head left or head right just flip the hammock over for your prefer lay. Great hammock, 0 calf pressure.

If they did one in all black they could call it the Snape, or any longer it could be the "Severe US Snape".

I'm gonna run get my snipe gun (I keep it in the closet next to my mime gun).

I had never heard of the Snipe before. Following the thread I thought it was a spoof (a la Snipe hunting). Let's pretend this never happened.

I still like calling the RL a 'Snipeline'.

My normal 11' ridgeline tarps. I added a ridgeline to the Snipe....shortens it as it is saggy now. Rl is around 104" I believe.

Any 11' tarp will work with the 11' hammocks. Heres a video of an Oldman Winter tarp w/11' RL, over my 11' Lite Owl hammock. I bet there is a foot of coverage on both ends. :cool:

It is a totally different hammock....no bug net, no shelf, no staking out. But I like the lay of it a bit better. I think it is the length that makes it more comfortable for me.
My WBBB will still be my go-to in buggy weather.

I've been in mine for about two weeks now ... made the Fronkey design bug net..4.2 ozs. .. awesome hammock without a doubt ..I'm running about 105 RL right now . math wise ..83% is 109.5.. . I started at 110.. was to long for the area I use out back .. I'll try it longer this coming week on my hike .. .. this is one Happy Wolf ... Howl at ya later ...

I just sewed a set of Dutch's quilt hooks on my Snipe for my quilts,,and I must say this is by far the best setup of hammock hanging and sleeping I have ever experienced..The Snipe totally rocks and is sooooo comfy,,love sleeping in it, and it definitely gives me the best lay ever with NO leg hot spots, calf problems, or hyper knee feelings whatsoever. I love this hammock.:)
