question about pitching tarps

i only have a eno profly, but am looking to get some more use outta it. so i was thinking of pithing it tight into the hammock for more protection.

my question is seeing it is silnylon can i pitch it so tightmthat when in the hammock at a diag can i be pushing against the hammock some, or would this be a bad thing?

i know from tent exp that pressing against norm nylon would cause it to allow water to seep through. i also relise i don't want to be pressing so hard against the tarp that i might damage it.

Pushing against sil when it is wet is a bad plan. When you apply pressure to sil, the weave expands. That allows moisture to pass through. When it is your hammock pressing against it, it is your hammock that gets wet....followed by your quilt, your socks, then your feet.

I learned this lesson very well in N Georgia when I was using the prototype Superfly. Wanna hazard a guess as to who pestered Brandon to put the side panel pull tabs on the Superflies? :D

Big thanks for that. The pulls are one of the things I like most about the Superfly and the Mamajamba. It also helps set them apart from some of the competition.
