If the trees in question are about the same diameter at each site and their distance doesn't exceed what you can reach with your whoopie slings, then sure.

I doubt it would hold very well. The toggle would form a bit of a leaver against the stitching with a lot of weight pulling on it plus the toggle itself would become load bearing then.
If you used much wider webbing you might be able to run enough stitches to hold and then use a metal toggle but the length from the tree wouldn't be adjustable.
