Hey from NW VA!
I'm not neccessarily new to hammocking, but I'm new this community and anything other than fair weather hammocking and a "stock hammock" I'm hoping to meet some folks to "hang with" in NW VA... I live near Winchester and am just looking for some like minded folks to enjoy the outdoors with and something constructive to do...
I'm looking for good camping and hiking in the area and some folks that could show me the ropes and around. Thanks.

Welcome! You are in a great location to make it to the MAHHA October 19-21 hang at Gathland state park, Maryland. Over 50 hangers and there are already prehikes on AT in planning stages. Lots of people to meet and learn from and hike with. Consider yourself invited!

Welcome from Central VA!
You are very near to a bunch of really great hammocking sites. Plus, there has been a recent surge in "local" activity. Currently, there's a hang in the planning in the upconing months. If the last location discussed is used, it should be within about a 1/2 drive from Winchester. Check out the thread titled, "Anyone want to start a VA hang trip?" :D

Thanks all for the responses... I'd really like to get into one of the group hangs... it would be interesting to see how I'd fit in with a new bunch of people. If I had to guess I'm a bit more high strung... I wouldn't say I'm an "*******" but I've got kind of a dark sense of humor acquired while serving in the Marine Corps...
That being said, I don't step on folks toes and would love to hang out and just find some folks to enjoy the outdoors with.
