Gear hammock opinions: pack cover/pack holder

It rains 85% of the time while I'm out and about. A gear hammock seems really appealing, especially if it doubles as my pack cover. It seems like having one hanging underneath my hammock would be useful, as long as it wouldn't mess with my UQ or drag the ground.

I've seen the JRB and Jeff's DIY plans, but I've got a silnylon pack cover that I'm going to try to mod to make it work.

Pro's and con's to this? Will it fit under my hammock?

I checked my pack cover, and it has a ring k. The bottom that's reinforced, so I ordered some of Dutch's tarp clips to try that for the top to run a line off of. My gear wouldn't ever weigh more that 20lbs, so we'll see how it works. I'm hesitant to try my sowing skills.
