could i use 100% polyster for a tarp??
If it's somehow waterproof (PU coated) then yes.
Then absolutely yes. Polyester typically has less stretch and is more UV resistant than nylon.
Where did you find 20d ripstop polyester? Before the advent of cuben fiber for tarps, there were spinnaker tarps. Which was a silicone impregnated ripstop polyester. They were a little lighter than silnylon and had the benefit that they didn't stretch. However most makers of spin tarps stopped making them as the fabric became less waterproof to the point of being no good for tarps.

if you have new builds in ur area check out some tyvek. some give away free scraps

this is were i found it:D..
I am a carpenter and have tyvek readly available and dont want to use it i dont think it will pack down ,nor do i want a white tarp
any who i ended up buying 13 yards of ripstop nylon from joann frabrics so im going to make the tarp out of that. fabric is hard to find near me and i dont have the patience to order it online
Reading the alibaba link a little further, it states a sample size of 100 meters could be purchased for an $80 surcharge on top of the $2-$3 per meter charge. I am sure a group buy could be organized for anyone interested. At typical 8 yards per tarp, it would only take a dozen or so people wanting to trying this material out.
