How are you guys cutting the strands for the taper?
I use very sharp sissors and I cut the strands at varying lengths too. My cuts are still messy looking and uneven. I figure that just makes my taper even more "tapering" looking. When I pull this to the inside, it tends to look pretty good.

Thank you very much :)
i hear that ceramic blades are very good for cutting amsteel, and that they do not loose their edge while cutting amsteel/dyneema like other steel blades and scissors do. my friend has a ceramic blade and boy is it sharp! he has never had to have it resharpened and it is always getting used!
Thanks,
Dan
Hi Dan, thanks for the info. I heard that they sell those for cheap at Harbor Freight, might have to pick one up.
Per Samson Rope company, the weak point is where the bury exits. None the less, they still recommend a taper for the fixed eye bury. With small diameter line like 7/64 you can usually get away with just cutting the line on a 45 degree angle. On larger lines you pull out pairs and snip working towards the end to create a gradual taper.
