Scout canoe trip
Took a bunch of scouts on a canoe trip. We canoed out to a friends property on Toledo bend and hung our hammocks on his back porch. Wind was kicking about 15+ mph.....fast enough so that some of the smaller scouts could not hang onto a hammock strap without getting pulled out of position. It got a little cool (high 30's) overnight but we were decently prepared.
Anyways, it was a great prep trip for this summer when we are doing a week long trip in Arkansas.
Here is a sucky pic. We ended up with 5 hammocks hung under that porch. Good times

Where are you guys planning to float in Arkansas this summer?

Sounds like a great trip!! Great job getting the boys out. Regular outings are so key. And, it's great to see PFDs on the kids carrying the canoe! Safety is #1.

sure wish we had hammocks when I was in scouts.

I camped in that area when I was a scout in 19**. Sounds like a good time.

Looking forward to hearing about your summer trip. Boy those scouts are lucky.

I spent the weekend out on Toledo Bend as well... island canoe trip, near Pirates Cove. Pretty windy, as noted. Couldn't beat the almost full moon up all night though!
