I found the pictorial the easier to follow than a video. If you're thinking about using them as a tarp ridgeline then yes, zing-it would be fine. Not sure what you had in mind for a hammock ridgeline.

What purpose does the soft shackle serve? I'm not familiar with soft shackles being used in either hammock or tarp ridgelines.
Some folks (like me) use soft shackle prusiks to attach tarp to tarp ridgeline. Yes, you can use the same diameter Zing-it for your soft shackle prusiks, but you may need to go four wraps instead of three on the prusik. Once the coating wears off they shouldn't slip.
As for a hammock ridgeline, mine is adjustable. I use a 1.75 mm Zing-It whoopie sling. The fixed loop of the whoopie is larksheaded to the continuous loop running through the hammock end-channel. The adjustable loop of the whoopie connects to a titanium Dutch ridgeline biner, which connects to the continuous loop on the other end of the hammock.
Instead of a biner, you could use a soft shackle.
Are you replacing the hammock ridgeline on your Warbonnet, or do you have another hammock?
Hammock RL: The RL hangs in your face when using it to sit. The soft shackle enables you to easily disconnect it to get it out of the way.Quote:

Tarp RL: I use it on one end instead of a 'biner. After saving weight switching to Zing-it! it seems like a waste to use a 'biner.
OH NO! I'M BECOMING A GRAM WEENIE!!! :scared:
I use 1.75 for everything. I know you're supposed to have the prussik cordage smaller than the line it wraps around but I haven't had any problems. I think this is referring more to when climbers are using it. Ridge lines, not so much.Quote:
If you are using 1.75 for your ridgeline do you also use 1.75 for your soft shackles?
I like to use soft shackles to attach my guylines to my tarp but to hang my tarp to my ridgeline I use a little Dutch hook spliced onto the tail of a prusik loop, quick and easy to operate when your hands are cold/wet.
