Snipe or Weight Weenie?

I'd like to try out an 11' foot hammock and want to drop a bit of weight for when I need an even lighter pack. I don't want to go the DIY route - I have a tablecloth one I made but it's overly heavy. I'm 5'10" and about 170.

I've narrowed it down to the BIAS Weight Weenie or Wilderness Logics Snipe. Both look solid and have lots of fans.

I'm leaning towards the Weight Weenie as it's a bit lighter and it can come sans suspension, which I already have, to save me just a bit of money.

Any recommendations or opinions? Any real differences between the two I should consider?

i've never tried a WW so i can't give a comparison.
i am of the opinion that WL hammocks are ultimately comfortable.
there may be some others who feel the same ?

I have a WW, and its the most comfortable hammock I own. I am also 5'10, 170 lbs. I highly recommend it. I also got the knotty mods, but find I don't use them much, except to eyeball where the sweet spot is. Nice big sweet spot too- I think you'll like an 11 footer.

At 170, you could go all in and go with the ww micro. I'm about 5lbs heavier than you and it's my daily sleeper. I really like it, but I don't have the other one to compare. But as a sidenote, bias was my first purchased hammock after a year in my DIY, and I now own a dl ww. Haven't even slept in it cuz of the micro.

Hi Brian, All my hammocks are 11'ers I have a snipe you can try, an 11' Tree to Tree switchback and a Dreamhammock Gnome.

Had to laugh at that.

I would say WW but I too am a bias owner now. If you do I would recommend the knotty mod on the WW. It's worth the extra cost.

It's a big problem - you can't go wrong with any of the gear discussed.

have only tried my WWM and I really really really really like it. 56" wide 11' long DL bliss. Great customer service a either way you go so you can't lose :) or buy both and test them hehehe you can always sell one

I have a BIAS WW with Knotty's Mod and I love it. I don't have a ton of experience in other rigs, but I love my WW.

In my opinion, the WW has one major advantage over a WWM: the WWM only comes in camo :P

Sir, have you considered the Grand Trunk Nano? Its right down there with the WW weight wise. I have one and like it.

The Nano is light because it's more than a foot shorter than the BIAS hammocks.

On this trip report we had both hammocks you are interested in.
Pict 35 is a snipe(black) and picture 42 is the bias(camo).

Yea..... I have both. I have used the Snipe for over a year now and the WW for a few months. I dont think I could bring myself to get rid of eather one. I use the snipe for colder nights or for lounging arround the house, the WW for backpacking, and warmer weather. As for the lay.... well..... Im not getting rid of eather one. Cant go wrong.

Thanks for the generous offers OutandBack. I think I made my choice here but I'll definitely reach out to try that Dream Hammock sometime soon.

Thanks all for your suggestions and feedback! I just pulled the trigger on a Coyote Brown BIAS Weight Weenie, which should be here by Christmas! I'm super excited to try it out.
