Hello from MA
Hey everyone! Ive been getting into backpacking and have decided I'm going to be a hang sleeper instead of a ground dweller. Im in the market for a hammock and Im just trying to learn about it all before I buy one. I still dont know whether Im going to piece one together, DIY or buy a complete setup so any help is appreciated.

Another welcome from CT.
I'm a fan of DIY. You could start with a DIY tablecloth hammock and go from there.

Welcome from the Jersey Shore. I second trying a tablecloth hammock. I wish they were around when I started out. A cheap, quick way to get off the ground.

Welcome from Pennsylvania! :)
I'll third the DIY tablecloth. I haven't tried it myself, but personally I think everyone should have a DIY hammock, tarp and under quilt. Makes it easier to figure out what's really important to you, before you go out and decide if you want to buy one. At least, that's my plan with my under quilt... hahaha.

Welcome, tom. If you are sure that you want to hang and have the ready cash then there are great vendors represented here. I did a DIY underqult because I did not have the cash but had a sewing machine and an extra sleeping bag.
