DIY Speer/Catcut Hybrid or BlackCat

I am considering going DIY on my first real tarp so mods if you need to move this thread please do so.

What I'm looking for a decent 3 season tarp to go with my Bayer Traveler Lite hammock that I plan to upgrade... but that's another DIY for another time.

For the tarp I'm thinking Ed Speer style 8 x 10 but with cat cuts like the Black Cat. This is somwhat like Shug's Black Crow, but with a perpendicualr seam and a bit more coverage ( 1' exra per side).

Has anyone tried this configuration, is it good or should I just go with the redular 10 x 10 Black Cat.

Also, I am 6', so is a 10' tarp ridgeline going to be long enough?
