Hey y'all, newb here
Hello,
I've seen a lot of reference made to this forum, so I'm joining in hopes to get enough information to setup my first hammock camping rig. I've never slept in a hammock, but I'd love to have the freedom to pitch where I want, not sleep on the ground, and carry less weight.
Hope to see you around.

Hello and Welcome! Tons of info to absorb so keep reading. Hammock camping is not necessarily lighter than tent camping. A tent, sleeping bag and pad is often in the same weight range as a tarp, hammock, top quilt and bottom quilt. The biggest gain is in comfort. A better night's sleep equates to a better day hiking or paddling and overall more enjoyable outdoor experience IMO. A hammock also serves to provide more comfortable sitting/lounging at camp.

Welcome to the forum. You will find plenty of helpful people around here, with quite a few in Fl. Just take some time and soak it up slowly. Try to attend a group hang to see a bunch of different options at one stop.
