Ridgerunner w/Superfly & Spindrift

I had nothing to do today and decided to set up my Ridgerunner and Superfly in the backyard in a couple different configurations and snap some more photos for the members of HF. People love photos when thinking about new gear, so I thought I'd supply a few more of this new hammock.

This is the way I have been using my Superfly with the recent turn in weather to colder conditions. I always like "porch mode", so I try to set up the tarp as a windbreak in the proper orientation. What I like about the Superfly is you can use the doors as added width to stop more of the wind. With the addition of the Spindrift sock, you get another form of wind protection and an added warmth factor.

Now, if it's really windy, or you don't want to use porch mode, you can set up the doors in a way as to wrap the hammock along the suspension lines. You can't competely enclose the hammock, but there is enough of a wrap to make a substantial difference. I have actually used this method in rain and had no problems with water getting to the hammock.

Great pics Yukon! Have a spindrift on the way, can't wait to try it out...have been sleeping outside in some fairly chilly weather, should be really nice to break the wind!

I just ordered a Cloudburst. Do you find your Superfly has enough room on the sides so that the spreader bars don't poke the tarp?

Thanks everyone, I really dig this set up...definitely the best I have had. I just keep seeing threads where people ask about the Superfly and the Ridgerunner so I thought I'd try to help out some more...

Wow.

I have the original JRB BMBH and these pictures really show how the wider poles at the head end, shallower body, and suspended bug net all add up to improve the view and widen the available shoulder room.

Wow.

WB could use these to as a great sales tools.

I have slept in my RR with the spindrift atleast 10 time and once down to 27 degrees so far. From my experience if there is a wind everything is great ,But no wind I got considerable condensation. If you leave the spindrift cracked at the top its not as bad.Also I think having your tarp deployed not in its skins also helps. just my 2 cents

Good info. I am really curious to see how this is Spindrift is gonna work out for me down in the Southeast.

I haven't had any condensation with my Spindrift yet after three nights use, we shall see what the future brings I guess...

You can really feel the heat in the spindrift unless its windy then not as much . I thank you will find that the spindrift will burn you out in milder climates. so much so that you could probably go with a lighter top quilt and under quilt .maybe

I have relegated my Spindrift to late fall and winter only. Bug net rest of the year :)

when you get your spindrift,and you want to have it fuction,but still want to see the stars try this it worked for me.i put a slip knot in the ring where the line is tied, now i can get in then collapse the spindrift on my face leaving the foot end as is.then you can scoot over to the side where the door is.poke your face out then zip the drift up around your face.i wouldnt do it if codensation were an issue,but on top of bell mountain in a wind i watched a meteor shower looking lika a turtle upside down on the highway,ahhh yes life was good.

Too many hammocks, not enough hang time (as I would like). I have a more extended trip scheduled in January to throughly test the RR.

Thanks, I'm quite fond of the yard also. I sleep out there a lot in the summer...

That is probably one of the most sexiest set up I have ever seen on this planet. That is so awesome. The tarp color reminds me of bacon and its goodness.

Nice shots of an awesome setup. I love porch mode to me it's one of the best selling features of hammock camping. A room with a view

Great pics! I got the same tarp in November and have used it 1 time with my clark Tropical ultra. I would like to tyry a RR sometime.
