amazing pics! i dig that wooden mug.
Thanks guys, I'm surprised how many people notice the mug (Kuksa). lol it may need a thread of it's own down the road. :D
Wooden cups are not as useful as metal cups. In that you can't boil with it, weighs more, more likely to crack, etc. However there's just something special about drinking out of a hand carved cup. A tool that was painstakingly made, countless hours to harvest, carve, and care for. What's great about it, is that over time- it will develop it's own personality. Dings and stains as proof of it's travels.
It's something hard to explain, until you really get out in the woods and use one. A piece of artwork to appreciate in my opinion. There's something about wooden utensils that makes me feel a little more connected to the outdoors. *go and ahead and laugh*
Alex does amazing work making these.
Terrific pix of your trip.
You could use that mug as kindling in a pinch....
Shug
Looks like it was an awesome trip. I'm still oogling over the 'super breakfast'! I'm at home and this bowl of cereal just didn't taste the same after in saw that
I'd rather set my only pair of socks on fire. Luckily I practice bushcraft, so the need to set a perfectly good cup on fire will (hopefully) never arrise. :D
It was quite a breakfest, we kinda picked at it, but Rain consumed the majority of it. Quite the task. lol
Nice one! I see you all survived the frozen wastes of Southern California !!!!
How was the road? Haven't been on it since last summer. It was pretty rough then and I was wondering how all the rains have been treating it.
Great pics really fantastic job
Thanks for sharing. Looks like a great trip
you've got the eye.
And there's that favorite bowl again! I think it needs to be seasoned repeatedly with a fine single.
Now that paw print---lion?
Keep it coming!
It's soso, not the best, but not too bad though since I have a truck. It blows my mind sometimes seeing a prius or other low/smaller car there.
Thank you sir.
These wooden cups have gotten me into a lot of trouble with the spirit world. lol I remember "accidentally" polishing off 750ml of JD and half bottle of wine. The hammock was rocking a little too much that night. :D
I've been doing some heavy coffee sippage with this cup the last few weeks, it's awesome watching it patina. When I first got it, the thing was a crisp pale tan almost white in color. And at this moment it's turned into a very dark brown inside and slowly changing on the outside. It's awesome!
You should pick one up from Alex. ;)
The print wasn't that big, I want to say it's a racoon?
btw, wait till you see the monster 14oz one he's making for me. It's twice the volume of the ones I have right now.
