Problem with ENO DN?
I have an eno dn and I am a bigger guy, I can get in the hammock no problem but once i am in the sides get pulled so tight that it is almost impossilbe to get out when i swing my legs around my knees are at my chin. is this just b/c of the deepness of the dn would I be more suited with a smaller less deep hammock?

check your hang angles too, you want 30* if you are much more than that, it may be sagging beyond what is necessary for a nice diagonal lay, and cause your problem. A ridge line would make your sag consistent. i would play around more with your DN before looking at an alternative hammock.

+1 on angles, sounds like you have it strung too tight.
If you make a "gun" with your fingers, the angle from top of thumb to end of pointer is roughly 30*. I use this as a quick gauge setting up my hammock and works for a consistent hang every time.

I've had my DN for about a month now and I keep my ridge line around 87 inches, but still fine tuning. I'm 5'10" and 230 lbs.
When you say swinging your legs around, how do you lay in your hammock? I like to lay feet left, head right. I sit down on the left side of my hammock then I just lean back and lift up my feet and lay them into place, there is not really much rotation to get in and out. I don't even really lift my feet to get out, I just slide them to the left and over the side of the hammock. No knees to the chin situation. However, if I got in on the other side of the hammock, that would be a totally different story.

Because of the width of the hammock, it really helps to shimmy yor butt over the edge and then swing your legs over. That way you are not sinking into all that material.
Another way is to sit up, put each leg over each side so you are in a stradling position. Lean forward, put your weight on your feet as you pull yourself up hand over hand using the hammock.

Problem with ENO DN?
I love my eno dn, but as a bigger guy I find getting out to be difficult as well. I came up with a system to get out. Lay on your side put one leg over and down. Then stand on one foot and one knee in the hammock, then your out.

thanks for all the help I will check my angles and use the finger thumb method suggested and I will also try some of the other suggestions for getting out. thanks guys.

It would be really hard to mistake me for slender at 6 foot and pushing 300#. I just ordered an ENO DN. This will be my first camping hammock. I am glad I saw this thread so now I will know what to do if I get my girth stuck.

I added whoopieslings and a ridgrline to mine now if I have the ridgeline set my bum doesn't drop as far and the dismount has been easier then it was originally.
Just my 2 cents if it helps.

I just put my feet over till they touch the ground then rock the hammock back until I can stand.
I am 6ft2 and 280 and use a DN as one of my day hiking hammocks.
