I use to draw all the time in high school. So everyone called me sketch. So it suck... now im a local artist who everyone calls me sketch.
Mine came from attending a traditional archery tournament. I was wandering around looking at trees. Somebody asked if, "I was lost or drunk?" I said, "no, I'm looking for two trees." That was followed by, "we wish you luck but your standing in the middle of the woods!" I then said, "it was to hang my hammock from." Next came a, "What!" "Well, I have to have the perfect trees to get the optimal pitch that will allow my feet to hang higher than my head and not let my butt touch the ground." I heard one whisper, "he ain't drunk, he is on drugs." Name stuck from them on.
Kia Kaha means "be strong" in Maori, the native language of the Polynesian people of New Zealand, my wife is Maori and left her beautiful country for me, so I have used it for many years to honor her, here and a couple other backpacking type forums except for one where it was taken I use Katangi there which is my youngest son's Maori name given to him by his late great grandfather, a Maori Chief.
My name comes from when I used to play dungeons and Dragons style games. I use to have a character with the name Nighthauk. Who was a ranger So that is what I use for screen names.
MUDDPUPPY - Mudpuppies or waterdogs are aquatic salamanders of the family Proteidae. Their name originates from the misconception that they make a dog-like barking sound. When I would go fishing with my dad he would catch this so horrible sounding fish dog and make this so ugly thang, BARK. When my dad passed away some years ago, he left me his walking stick that he whittled from a drifting log floating in a River, after a storm. Carved on the stick" MUDDPUPPY"......
I think it's self explanatory. LOL
Mine is simple, just my nickname from high school marching band, and the year I graduated.
The first part of mine is pretty obvious, the second is a tie in with my last name "Grizzard". I've been called several variations over the years, usually The Grizz, and since that was already taken here, I just went with Grizzly instead.
I lost my Dad 2 1/2 years ago. His nickname was Disco, so I decided to take on that name as my trail name and screen name here.
