High in the Uintah's: Grandaddy Basin
Went on a over nighter (not enough time), to the vast expanse of the Grandaddy Basin in Utah's High Uintah's. It was the first day of the Elk hunt so there were quite a few of them roaming around. One of them had shot a mountain goat with some wicked cool horns! We arrived as the sun was setting and barely got set up at by Lake Betsy before it got pitch black dark.
The next day consisted of basking in the sun, listening to woodpeckers and the stillness that the wilderness offers.
All in all it was 9 miles round trip. The weather was amazing, the sky was so clear and the stars so bright you could see the reflections of them in the lake.
It was probably the last time this season that the area could be accessed by me. The dirt road on on the side of the mountain already had a little snow and it was way sketchy when another vehicle was coming down the mountain.
Needless to say, I can't get enough of the woods.
